As we begin to approach Fall and soon Halloween, its time to shift our thoughts to “spooky, creepy, and even scary” stuff so why not a neat and Goth style Gingerbread Man! Found this interesting creation on an Etsy shop – The Poisoned Apple. Etsy is a great place to shop online for unique handmade items as well as vintage collectibles and antiques. Another Etsy shop we like is Crazy4Me and they tend to have a nice selection of vintage items for the home and neat collectibles and of course Gingread items from time to time. Just when you think you have seen EVERYTHING about singer Lady Gaga and that there is NOTHING left to surprise you here are some Lady Gaga Gingerbead Cookies! If you look at the photo and really closely look at these cookie ladies you can see that the baker/decorator captured the costumes and poses Lady Gaga is famous for….pretty good job!! Primitive craft are the latest craze! You hear about making “grungy” Ornies and Prim Annie Dolls and Primitive Gingerbread or Gingers. Part of what make these items so fabulous is the “Grungy” part and the stained look. I have been seeing lots of the Primitive Hang Tags and started researching “stains” and if coffee vs. tea was better or not. Here’s a great start to creating your own grungy hang tags. Brayden Campbell, in his 2nd year to enter the Abilene Gingerbread House event, won the grand prize with a log cabin gingerbread house. Complete with a rock candy chimney and pretzels for logs. For the roof, Brayden used Cinnamon Toast Crunch cereal pieces. He would place one, then eat one. Cute story…
Brayden and other kids and parents were interviewed after the Abilene Contest. It looks like everyone had a lot of fun, just as you would expect at anything dealing with Gingerbread.
